L'array può essere espanso da una modalità RAID a disco unico a una modalità a più dischi, quali RAID 1 o RAID 5. NUOVA FUNZIONALITÀ DI BACKUP L'utente può eseguire facilmente backup individuali, in base alle caratteristiche di ciascun dispositivo di storage di rete, e gestirli in modo centralizzato dal proprio NAS LaCie. E' sufficiente collegare un'unità disco USB o eSATA al NAS e programmare backup automatici sull'unità disco esterna. L'unità disco viene automaticamente scollegata al termine del backup in modo che l'utente possa portarla con sé, ottenendo così un'ulteriore protezione. Il motore di backup supporta anche i backup da PC a NAS su dispositivi di condivisione locale, da qualsiasi computer all'interno di quell'ambiente. Grazie alle modalità di backup incrementali, se l'utente ha bisogno di ripristinare un intero backup o un file specifico, una procedura guidata lo aiuterà a ripristinare la versione desiderata. Il singolo file o i file ripristinati possono venire salvati nel percorso d'origine del documento di cui si è eseguito il backup.

EFFICACE INTEGRAZIONE DI RETE Il sistema operativo è compatibile con ambienti a infrastruttura mista, tra cui PC, Mac e Linux. NAS OS 2.0 è inoltre compatibile con MAC OS X 10.7 (Lion). I dischi possono essere configurati per l'arresto dopo un determinato periodo di tempo, garantendo un consumo energetico minimo durante i periodi in cui non vi è accesso al NAS. LaCie NAS supporta inoltre il protocollo Wake on LAN per cui anche se il NAS è disattivo e in modalità di risparmio energetico, l'utente lo può facilmente riattivare attraverso il suo computer senza doversi trovare fisicamente vicino al NAS.
